PlaceInvaders – FiDi Edition

With PlaceInvaders, you never know where you’re going to end up. Or who you’re going to meet, for that matter. I was particularly excited for this FiDi dinner location because it was my old stomping ground where I first started my career. I had no idea, however, just how amazing this apartment was going to be.

From the outside, it’s pretty unassuming. The entrance is hidden by scaffolding and a Starbucks is closeby, along with many of the places I used to venture to for lunch. Yet, once you walk past the doorman and go to the Penthouse floor, you’re in for a real treat.

First of all, the inside of this apartment was gorgeous:

Yet, the outside rooftop patio was the true showstopper.

Our table was beautifully set and had the phenonemnal backdrop of One World Trade behind it:

Lovely orange/Prosecco cocktails were served along with a nice variety of hors d’oeuvres as we enjoyed the view:

After a bit of chatting and getting to know our fellow diners, we were invited to pick our place at the table. I somehow ended up at the head, but I really liked the extra elbow room as we settled in and inspected our menus:

Each place-setting was topped off with a cute PlaceInvaders sticker:

Both the wine and food were well executed, especially considering that they only had the tiny apartment kitchen to work with. My favorite had to be the asparagus dish.

Night fell and conversation carried on with our new friends. We had such a good connection with the people around us that we went to a nearby speakeasy cocktail bar afterwards that I knew from my days around the area. It’s what makes these events magical – you never know who you’re going to meet.
